DC Studios has released the final trailer for Clayface, and it is the most disturbing look yet at the studio’s first horror film. Tom Rhys Harries stars as Matt Hagen, a rising Gotham actor whose life falls apart — and then literally melts. Here is what the final trailer shows.

1. From leading man to monster

Hagen’s rise from Gotham street kid to Hollywood leading man is cut short when a local crime boss leaves him horribly disfigured. Abandoned by his team, he turns to Dr. Caitlin Corr (Naomi Ackie), whose experimental treatment restores his face — and starts unravelling his mind.

2. The transformation is body horror

The trailer does not shy away from the change: Hagen’s face and body gradually turn to a bizarre clay-like form, and his mental state worsens as his body becomes less stable. Director James Watkins has said the film’s full creature form is being withheld from all marketing until release, so what you see here is only part of the picture.

3. A new ending tease

The final trailer’s closing moments go further than the earlier trailers, showing Hagen wearing another man’s face — a chilling hint at where the story ends. Max Minghella co-stars as Detective John Borelli, with Eddie Marsan and David Dencik also in the cast.

4. The DCU goes horror

Written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini and directed by Watkins, Clayface is the first horror movie in the DC Universe, and it is rated R. Made for a reported $40 million, it leans on practical effects for a grounded, visceral feel. It arrives in theaters on October 23, 2026. Watch the trailer on the movie’s page.
